Alleviate Your EV Anxiety
New (and Unfamiliar) Innovations
There is no doubt that the transformation from the internal combustion engine to electric vehicles is a colossal undertaking and naturally being met with worry by consumers who are unfamiliar with details. People have their daily lives to contend with. They do not necessarily have the time to dedicate to researching the latest on EV technology, government incentives, and the status of the rollout of it all, especially when they’ve got a full work day, kids to pick up, dogs to walk, laundry to do, etc. Amidst all of the other obligations it is understandable that they might just think, “Yeah, it sounds great, but is it going to get me from point A to point B?” That question has to be answered directly and succinctly.
Luckily, the answer is a firm “Yes.” People oftentimes worry about the inconvenience of charging compared to filling up the tank. They think of how it only takes them 5 minutes to fill up but have heard that charging takes a lifetime. But one major thing to think about is that your EV is most likely to be charged the vast majority of time at home, overnight in your garage or driveway. It’s the equivalent of having a gas station at your house! You don’t have to worry about running out of gas because you fill up each night.
Next Steps
What about the great American road trip, though? There’s the holy grail that the EV movement is trying to achieve. Let’s be straight on that. There’s a long way to go. However, a lot of progress has been made. The essential factor here is the deployment of Level 3 charging stations along the Interstates and major highways so that motorists can charge up within a time frame similar to what they can do with a gas engine. Tesla has led the charge on this. But recently other carmakers are catching up, collaborating with Tesla to allow other cars access to the Tesla chargers. Moreover, the level 3 charging stations are being rolled out with increasing speed, in tandem with the increase in the number of EV drivers.
In essence, the arrival of Level 3 charging stations is going hand in hand with the growth of the EV market. This is what we would expect as the increased number of EVs on the highways drives demand for the stations that charge them. We’re heading in the right direction. Incentives are in place. The market is growing. Joining that market is easier every day. So leave the Xanax at home and feel secure that EV anxiety is soon to be a thing of the past.
